The Man Who Can't Get Married

The Man Who Can’t Get Married (also known as He Who Can’t Marry, and Gyeolhon Motaneun Namja) is a South Korean drama adapted from Japanese romantic comedy series, Kekkon Dekinai Otoko.

Cho Jae Hee (Ji Jin Hee from Spotlight, Dong Yi) is a handsome, 40ish year old bachelor and multi-awarded Architect. Over the years of living in solitude, he has perfected his craft and created a very comfortable life suitable for his I-me-and-myself world – he savors fine dining experience and spend time at home either hearing loud classical music or going on movie marathons. At the office, he keeps his dealings with his colleagues Yoon Ki Ran (Yang Jung Ah from City of Glass) and newbie designer Park Hyun Kyu (Yoo Ah In, from Sungkyunkwan Scandal, Fashion Kingpurely professional and hardly mingles with them on social events. Aside from these, Jae Hee’s deficiency in interpersonal relations cannot be concealed due to his tactless speech, self-righteous air, and enormous lack of gentleman-gene in his blood.

His ever-predictable bachelor life soon takes much chaos as the pretty and friendly Jung Yoo Jin (Kim So Eun, from A Thousand Kisses, also best known as Kim Bum’s love interest in Boys Over Flowers) moves to the next door apartment with her cute clothed Chihuahua, Sanggu. Yoo Jin would often try to engage Jae Hee in small talks but he always finds a way to put her off. One evening, Yoo Jin has had it with Jae Hee’s loud music so she angrily bangs on his door in an attempt to demand for the music to be lowered, if not stopped. Instead seeing an arrogant Jae Hee at the door, he came crawling towards the door due to an severe stomach ache. The good-natured Yoo Jin brought him to the S.D. Hospital, where he was attended by the kind-hearted, lovely and single 40-year old doctor, Jang Moon Jung (Uhm Jung Hwa, from Seducing Mr. Perfect, Changing Partners). The initial emergency check-up is followed by series of medical consultations, until such time Jae Hee seem to be showing up at the clinic more out of habit than of genuine need for medical attention.  Could Jae Hee have finally warmed up and changed his life plan to accommodate another person? Watch the drama series and find out if Jae Hee remains the Man Who Can’t Get Marry to the very end.

Don’t forget as well to watch the female version of this story in the romantic comedy series, The Woman Who Still Wants to Marry.
