Reply 1997 / Answer Me 1997 / Answer to 1997

Reply 1997 (also known as Answer Me 1997,  Answer to 1997) is a 2012 hit Korean drama following the life of 2 Busan-based bosom buddies and their four other friends as their lives is chronicled back and forth from high school years in 1997 to their present life as young professionals. This coming-of-age series is known for its well-researched, refreshing and downright funny scenes that take viewers back to memories of the late 1990s. Reply 1997 stars Seo In Guk (from The Master's Sun, Love Rain), Jung Eun Ji (member of girlgroup A Pink, from drama That Winter, The Wind Blows), Hoya (from Korean boyband Infinite, My Lovely Girl), Shin So Yul (from Cheongdamdong Alice, Penny Pincher, Midas), Eun Ji Won (member of Kpop group Sechs Kies, from reality show Barefoot Friends), Lee Si Yeon (from King 2 Hearts) and Song Jong Ho.

Sassy eighteen year old Sung Shi Won (Jung Eun Ji) lived a normal high school girl life in the 1997,  that is, having a group of friends and being obsessed with the then sensational all-male band, H.O.T. with a fervent dream of someday marrying H.O.T’s band member, Tony Ahn.

Come 2012, Sung Shi Won attends a high school reunion along with her high school close friends, Mo Yoo Jung (Shin So Yul), Kang Joon Hee (Hoya), Do Hak Chan (Eun Ji Won), Bang Sung Jae (Lee Si Yeon), Yoon Yoon Jae (Seo In Guk) and Yoon Jae’s brother, Yoon Tae Woong (Song Jong Ho).  At the reunion, Yoo Jung and Hak Chan announced their upcoming wedding, and through an introductory narration, Shi Won declares she is married to someone from among the reunion attendees. The story then takes viewers to account of events from 1997 the leaves the viewers guessing on the identity of Shi Won’s husband. Could it be her childhood best friend, Yoon Jae who seem to have unrequited love towards Shi Won? Or Tae Woong, who surprised Shi Won with a confession and whom she dated? Or even the gentle and sweet Joon Hee (Hoya) who seems to be very affectionate and sharing a deep secret with Shi Won?

Reply 1997's success is followed by another nostalgia hit in 2013 with Korean drama series, Reply 1994.

Answer Me 1997 Director Edition OST (tvN TV Drama) - $25.99

Go back to the days of H.O.T, first love and high school angst in the hit tvN drama Answer Me 1997. Garnering rave reviews and high ratings for a cable drama, the warmhearted drama follows the love and friendship of a group of high school friends in the nineties and the present day. Singer Seo In Guk stars as prickly top student Yoon Jae, who holds a torch for his spunky, H.O.T-obsessed childhood friend Shi Won, played by APink's Jung Eun Ji. The two, along with Infinite's Hoya, Eun Ji Won, Shin So Yool and Lee Shi Un, go through the ups and downs of adolescence - from unrequited crushes to fandom wars to family fights - in nineties Busan. When yesterday's friends come together in 2012 for a reunion, which ones have ended up together after all these years?
The music used in Answer Me 1997 has played a great role in bringing audiences back to a different generation. Seo In Guk and Eun Ji sing two duets - All For You and "Still Our Love Continues" - for the soundtrack. The rest of the OST is filled with selected throwback songs featured in the drama including Deli Spice's "Confession", Jo Sung Mo's To Heaven, Yangpa's "Grasshopper's Love", Fin.K.L's "Ruby", RiAa's "Tears", and Sechs Kies' "To You, Whom I Love" and "Couple".
The director's edition soundtrack includes a mini photobook and a behind-the-scenes DVD.
